October Activities at Senior Wellness Center in Basking Ridge

Seniors to have their own Halloween party!

The in Basking Ridge, operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, announce their October program schedule.

All programs begin at 11 a.m. unless otherwise listed. The center for the Somerset Hills is at 202 Mount Airy Road. Those who want a lunch reservation should call by 11 a.m. the day before they wish to have a meal at the center.

The center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For further information call, (908) 204-3435.

Scheduled October activities are as follows:

Bridge — Every Monday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Computer Lab — Daily, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Call for availability)

Mahjong — Every Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pool Sharks — Pool table available daily, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Call for availability)

Senior Flex Class — (Upper & lower body exercise), every Monday & Thursday, 10:30 a.m.

Oct. 4 — Mind Your Mind: Spatial Relationship Exercises, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 5 — “Make Time for Mammography” by Somerset Medical Center, 10:45 a.m. (for women only)

Oct. 5 — Walking club, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 7 — “Time: How are you spending it these days?” by Helen Vasko, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 7 — What is Yom Kippur?

Oct. 10 — Holiday — center closed

Oct. 12 — “Fall Floral Arranging,” by the Bernardsville Garden Club, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 14 — “Nourishing the Hungry Brain” by Bernie Grohol, registered dietitian, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 18 — “Learn about and celebrate Divali Festival of Lights,” by Rachna Dave, Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 19 — Bingo, 10:30 a.m.

Oct. 20 — Senior Health Summit — Learn about the many services, activities, flu shots & programs offered by the center, and participate in educational services, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (No appointment is necessary for flu shots.)

Oct. 25 — “Adaptive Equipment for Both Work and Home” by Mark Malone, Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 26 — “Fall Floral Arranging” by the Basking Ridge Garden Club, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 26 — October Birthday Celebration!, 12:15 p.m.

Oct. 28 — “The Great Apple Tasting” by Nick Polanin, Somerset County Agricultural Agent, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 10:45 a.m.

Oct. 31 — Halloween Celebration, 10:45 a.m. Wear your costume to show that the young people aren't the only ones to have fun on this holiday!
