Welcome Spring with a Scenic Hayride

Informative and athletic programs also fill schedule this week.

Lord Stirling Park Riding Stable will be the site of a spring hayride to welcome the milder weather to Basking Ridge. There are also 5K and pick-up basketball events over the next seven days.

Here's a look at what else is happening this week:

Monday-College admissions consultant Rana Slosberg will provide a free course on college support for students with LD or ADHD in the large conference room of the 4-H Center of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Somerset County at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday-Get your exercise at . Those ages 30 and older are able to play pick-up basketball games, which will be organized from 8:15 to 10:15 p.m., and two gyms will be available for play. Prior registration is required, so make sure to check out the event listing ASAP.

Wednesday-A breakfast workshop on making 401(k) plans more effective will be held in the Conference Room of the at 9 a.m.

Thursday-Comedienne Lily Tomlin performs classic characters and offers wry observations about the human condition at the at 8 p.m.

Friday-The Outstanding Women in Somerset County Awards Dinner will be held at the Imperia in Somerset at 6 p.m. The awards are presented in celebration of Women's History Month and all honorees are women who live in Somerset County. Advanced reservations are required, so make sure to check the event listing.

Saturday-Enjoy a tractor-pulled hayride along the equestrian trail at at 6 p.m. The wagon will stop along the way for hot chocolate and s'mores at a campfire site.

Sunday-Did you register to find out if you're faster than a Ridge runner? Want to help their programs out? The third annual 5K, as well as the one-mile walk and kids races are being held beginning at 9 a.m. at Mountain Park at Martinsville and Mountain Roads in Basking Ridge. Registration was closed on March 18, but you can still come and support the cause, and the racers.
