Bernards Library Events, 'More Than Me' Party Coming Up

Get personal instruction on Nooks, Kindles and iPads at the library next week.

The Bernards Township Library continues to offer multiple events to appeal to adults and children of all ages throughout the week. We've included a few, but you can find a full list online.

In neighboring Bernardsville, there will be a Scrabble tournament on Sunday to have fun and bring in donations for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, Bernards High School graduate Katie Meyler's "More Than Me" Foundation Africa. The party is in Morristown.

Nooks, Kindles, iPads, Oh My
When/Where:
Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave., program room B.
Why Go:
Did you know that the Bernards Township Library has free e-books available to download? Do you need help downloading them to your e-reader or other mobile device? Come to this hands on workshop for one-on-one technical assistance from library staff. Remember to bring your charged device and any login information for the best experience.

A Celebration Party for More Than Me
When/Where:
Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. (approximately) at the Westin Governor Morris in Morristown.
Why Go:
Celebrate and help contribute to Bernardsville native Katie Meyler's "More Than Me" foundation to build a new school for girls in Liberia. The foundation already supports more than 100 girls who otherwise would be on the streets. Party to celebrate More Than Me's $1 million Chase Award grant, won in December. Cocktail attire.

Spell an End to Hunger Scrabble Tournament
When/Where:
Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bernardsville Library on Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville.
Why Go:
The tournament was arranged by the Bernardsville Democratic Committee, and participants are invited to bring an item to donate to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County. Contestants will play two games each and prizes include gift certificates to local spots.
Cost:
Free.

Chamber Music Orchestra Rehearsals
When/Where:
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Mi La’s Debut School of Music on Route 22 in Green Brook.
Why Go:
Anyone who has played a string instrument for three or more years is welcome to join in on the rehearsals.
Cost:
Free.

'Dare Greatly' Discussion With Fr. Rick Morley
When/Where:
Next Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave., program room B.
Why Go:
The library will sponsor a book discussion of "Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead," led by the Rev. Rick Morley of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Basking Ridge. In "Daring Greatly," Dr. Brene Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Finding Colleges that Fit You
When/Where:
Thursday night 7 to 8 p.m. at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.
Why Go:
Join Rana Slosberg of Slosberg College Solutions for this free program for high school students and their parents covering such commonly-asked questions asked by parents regarding college selection, building a college list, top ten things colleges are looking for in an applicant, and the five most important areas to explore on your college visit.
