Center For Contemporary Art Announces Fall Schedule

Bernards Parents of Exceptional Children had input into growing program selection for autistic and other special needs students.

The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster announces its fall schedule of art classes and workshops which begins Sept. 16 and runs through December for adults and children throughout the Somerset Hills.

The fall schedule includes 48 classes and 13 workshops for adults, and 32 classes for children ages four through teens. Classes are offered for artists with all levels of expertise in a variety of media including oil and acrylic paint, pastels, colored pencils, watercolors, drawing, photography and ceramics, the announcement said.

In addition, The Center continues to offer a growing and comprehensive curriculum for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs, the announcement said. The curriculum was developed in cooperation with Bernards Parents of Exceptional Children in neighboring Basking Ridge and was partially underwritten by that group, said Elie Porter Trubert, the CCA's executive director.

This fall, the CCA is offering classes for two age groups for special needs children each semester for a reduced fee, thanks to support from Janssen Pharmaceuticals and the Bernards PEC, according to Trubert. Those age groups are 6 to 9, and 10 to 15, she said.

Fall workshops provide unique one day opportunities for local artists and run the gamut from an in-depth exploration of color in “Color Scheme Game” with Chris Carter, to learning how to market your art in “Building Your Online Presence as an Artist” with Lauren Smith.

For artists and art appreciators alike The Center is offering monthly two-hour Chelsea galley tours, and a trip to visit the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.
