Coming Up: Yard Sale, Beach Party in BR and Annin Student Concert

Fundraising "beach party" and yard sale, and Annin concert with eighth grader's composition.

Looking for something to do this weekend, or into next week? We've come up with some suggestions.

As usual, kid-friendly activities are included in the Grab & Go section.


Where/When: Chabad Jewish Center in Basking Ridge will have a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at 1048 Valley Road, at the King George Road intersection.
Why Go: Because you can find sales on everything from baby and childrens' items to housewares and furniture, and benefit the center's Zimmer Preschool and Olam Academy.

Beach Party Fundraiser (for adults) at St. James Church
Where/When:  in Basking Ridge from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. 
Why Go: Because admission goes to raise funds for Gary Cronin and family, and includes lots of food, beer and wine. Babysitting available. Enjoy games, raffles and more with friends and family.

"Serenade Lilas" Performed During William Annin Middle School SpringlOrchestra Concert
Where/When:  at 7 p.m. next Wednesday, May 18
Why Go: Along with the rest of the concert selections, the orchestra will perform eighth grader Ariel Saloman's composition which she created on computers in her class, Creating Music.

Where/When:  in Morris Township on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m.
Why Go: Because the party will have a boardwalk theme, a Bruce Springsteen cover band and refreshments.

Where/When:  in Mount Tabor on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Because both adults and students can learn how the Victorians had fun.

Where/When: , Hopatcong, Thursday from 9 to 11 p.m.
Why Go: Because there will be food, there will be drinks, and there will be a chance to get up and belt one out.


Where/When: At the  on Friday from 12:15 to 12:55 p.m.
Why Go: Because pianist Jonathan Comisar and vocalist Galit Dadoun will perform Sephardi and Israeli folk. And, lunch will be available by Morristown caterers C’est Cheese.

Why Go: Become technologically savvy with some help from your local librarians.

Why Go:  The orchestra will play a wide range of music from Brahm's Academic Festival Overture to Harry Potter Highlights.

Why Go: Lasers and plenty of popular music by U2, The Beatles and Lady Gaga.

When/Where: Wegmans, Bridgewater, Saturday at 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m.
Why Go: A toast to making your own Fizz beverage and flower arrangement with a recipe of pride and your own two hands.
Pricing: $5 per child and parent with Shopper Plus Card. Purchase tickets in advanced to save your spot.

When/Where: Duke Farms, Hillsborough, Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m.
Why Go: Bike your way past the blossoming of spring under the beauty of the setting sun.
Pricing: $10 per person. $5 per child in a bike seat or a trailer. Registration required.

Grab & Go for kid-friendly activities

When/Where: Wagner Farm Arboretum, Warren, Friday through Sunday
Why Go:  The garden is blooming with children's activities, contests, plant sale and shopping for all.
Pricing: Free admission

When/Where: The , Princeton, Friday through Sunday. Friday performance is at 8 p.m. Saturday performances are at 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday performances are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. 
Why Go: Enjoy an unexpected, delightful twist on a favorite fairy tale.
Pricing:  Tickets range from $20 to $75

When/Where: , Environmental Education Center, Basking Ridge, Friday at 10 a.m.
Why Go:  Children ages 3 to 5 can grab their boots and discover what's happening in the slimy, slippery mud.
Pricing:  $10 per child and parent and $5 per additional child. Registration required.

When/Where: Cooper Gristmill, Chester, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go:  Meet baby lambs and watch hand shearing of sheep. Crafts and hands-on activities for all.
Pricing:  Free. Donations accepted.
