40th Annual Fourth of July Bash

Families from across Somerset County will celebrate the Fourth of July at Somerset County's biggest party, the 40th Annual Independence Day Family Festival.

The Festival begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, at North Branch Park on Milltown Road in Bridgewater. Admission is free. Corporate sponsorship is provided by Courier News and Ethicon.

The evening of patriotism, music, and family entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. and will include a variety of performers, historical reenactments celebrating the birth of the nation, a reenactment of a Revolutionary War encampment by the Third New Jersey Regiment Revolutionary Encampment, children's games and activities, plenty of food, and a sensational display of fireworks. Stage performances will provide a range of American music styles for the enjoyment of children and adults alike.

The Hillsborough Rockettes will take the stage at 5 p.m., followed by Jimmy & the Parrots who will take families on a musical journey to the Caribbean Islands.

The Rhythm Doctors will follow with a performance to cure all ills – with a stage performance that will have the audience dancing the night away. The Rhythm Doctors will be prescribing great dance music from the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and many Motown classics.

Central New Jersey's most spectacular fireworks display will take place at 9:30 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks only will be presented on July 5 or the first clear evening at 9:30 p.m.
