Farmstead Arts Hosts Neighborhood 'Pop-Up' Show & Sale

The community is invited this weekend and next to a free exhibit and Sunday reception with music.

The township'scenter will host the "Neighborhood Journal Pop-Up Exhibit and Sale" with works by 11 local artists from 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15, and next Sunday, May 22. This Sunday, May 15, the public is invited to a reception featuring music by Bernardsville guitarist Ariana Fazelat and refreshments at the Farmstead's farmhouse located at 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge.

The exhibit is free and the public is invited.

"This is the best show to date," said artist Kristina Lloyd of Basking Ridge, who is the Farmstead’s volunteer Gallery Coordinator.

This “pop-up” exhibit was set up for the filming of Cablevision’s Neighborhood Journal program segment that features the Farmstead Art. The program will appear this month on Cablevision channel 118 and be available on-demand through Cablevision.

This exhibit will feature works a variety of media including paintings in acrylic, enamel, watercolor and oil; drawings, photography, jewelry, and sculpture by Basking Ridge artists Kristina Lloyd, Serina Bocchino, Linda Arnold, Jody Jacobus, Cinder LeDell, Caren Frost Olmsted, and Hilary Klimek; Bernardsville artists Holly Fazelat and Gail Mardfin; and also Abi Fellows of Budd Lake, and Kathleen Kirchner of Stanhope. 

Ariana Fazelat, a sophomore at Bernards High School in Bernardsville, will perform improvisational acoustic guitar at the exhibit’s reception this Sunday. She has performed at a variety of venues and aspires to attend the Berklee College of Music.

On Saturday, May 21, the Farmstead Arts will host a booth at the Bernards Township’s Charter Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Preschool art teacher Marie Johnson will offer crafts for young artists in the morning, and Farmstead Artist-in-Residence, Michelle Marigliano will set up her loom to allow the community to create wind chimes in the afternoon.
