'Schoolhouse Rock!' Musical Play Coming to Basking Ridge

The play will be held on August 5, 6 and 7.

A high spirited musical production will entertain audiences on August 5, 6 and 7 when "Schoolhouse Rock!" is performed in Basking Ridge.

Based on the series of animated videos of the same name that aired on ABC television from 1973 through 1999, the show tells a story, through song, of a nervous young teacher and how imagination saves the day.

Artistic guidance is provided by highly acclaimed director Jaye Barre and musical director Marion Doerr, whose reputations for high quality theater are well known in the Basking Ridge area through previous productions. The cast of all ages, including singers, dancers, actors and musicians, have rehearsed throughout July under her guidance.

"We're expecting a large turnout." said Kim Dial, who is producing the show. "Seventy-six performers have enthusiastically participated as well as over 50 volunteers for the stage crew and support activities." Dial has produced shows each summer for several years, and has enjoyed sell-out audiences.

Tickets can be ordered by calling the special Schoolhouse ticket hotline at (908)766-1108 ext. 101. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday August 5-7 and 3 p.m. on Saturday August 7, at Bishop Janes United Methodist Church, 22 South Finley Ave, on the green in Basking Ridge.
