Wanted: Artwork for Fall Exhibit at Senior Wellness Center

Artists of all ages are welcome to submit pieces of fall-themed art by next Tuesday for show at Senior Wellness Center in Basking Ridge.

The Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services invites artists of all ages who live, work or go to school in Somerset County to submit photos or slides of fall-themed artwork for an exhibit at the in Basking Ridge.

The deadline for submitting entries is Tuesday, Sept. 18.    

The exhibit will be on display from Oct. 3 to Dec. 14 at the center, located at 202 Mount Airy Road.

The county arranges for shows at the Senior Wellness Center to be held quarterly, and in this show is seeking more fall-themed pieces, said Caitlin Witucki, health promotion specialist for the county office on Aging & Disability Services in Somerville. The county has been hosting art shows at the Wellness Center since the building opened five years ago, Witucki said.

A limit of three submissions is requested per artist. Artwork can include, but is not limited to, watercolors, oils, acrylics, photography, pastels, drawings, mixed media and printmaking, according to the county. Slides and photographs sent via mail will be returned.

Up to three photographs (4” X 6”) or slides may be sent to  witucki@co.somerset.nj.us, or via regular mail to the attention of Caitlin Witucki, Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876. Selected artists will be notified by Monday, Sept. 24, she said.

Artwork should not exceed 30 inches in width, including frame, and must be wired and ready for hanging. Exhibitors are asked to deliver artwork to the Senior Wellness Center between 10 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, Oct. 3.  At the end of the exhibit, artwork should be picked up from the Senior Wellness Center between 10 a.m. and noon on Friday, Dec. 14.

Exhibitors may offer artwork for sale with a small percentage of the sale being donated to the Somerset County Nutrition Program to benefit senior center activities

Those who wish to be considered should include a list of artwork on a separate sheet of paper indicating name, address, phone number,  email address, title, dimensions, whether the artwork is for sale or not, and media of the artwork to be considered, according to the county.
