Biz News: Accounting Firm Passes Peer Review

Also, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and Bedminster real estate agents among Coldwell Banker's top for 2011.

Two Bernardsville residents, Spencer Wissinger and O. David Fischer, are partners with the accounting firm of Fischer Barr & Wissinger in Parsippany, which has announced that the firm recently received a clean opinion and jas passed peer review without exception, as required for public accounting practices.

A peer review is a periodic external review of a firm’s quality control system in accounting and auditing. AICPA members engaged in the practice of public accounting are required to practice in a firm that is enrolled in an approved practice-monitoring program such as the Peer Review Program.

Fischer Barr & Wissinger LLC was notified on Jan. 30 by James L. Hardenberg, CPA, CAE, Director, NJSCPA Education Foundation, Inc. that the New Jersey Peer Review Executive Committee accepted the report on the most recent system peer review of the firm. "The Committee asked me to convey its congratulations to the firm," according to the announcement.

The partners, principals and managers of Fischer Barr & Wissinger count more than a century of combined expertise in the areas of tax planning, business and medical practice valuation, litigation support, accounting, auditing and consulting services, according to the announcement.

The firm opened its Parsippany office in January 2011, and has maintainsd a professional practice which has continuously served the regional business community from Morris County offices since 1968, the announcement said.

The firm's partners, principals and managers hold memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, the announcement said.

In January, Fischer Barr & Wissinger LLC announced the launch of its new company website, www.fbwcpas.com.

Coldwell Banker announces top agents for 2011

Hal Maxwell, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New Jersey and Rockland County, N.Y. has announced the company's top 50 agents for 2011, including Penny Toombs of the Basking Ridge office, and Lee Opperman of the Bernardsville office.

The following agents rank in the top percentile of the company’s 3,000 agents in the categories of total closed sales volume for 2011, and total units sold in 2011:

Penny Toombs of the Basking Ridge office ranked no. 31 for total closed sales volume; Lee Opperman of the Bernardsville office ranked no. 47 for total units sold in 2011; and Yasmine Harounian-Azizi of the Bedminster/Bridgewater office ranked no. 40 for total closed sales.
