O'Bagel Deli in Riverwalk is Favorite Bagel Shop

Coupled with the O'Bagel in Dewy Meadow, the two shops with one owner captured nearly all Basking Ridge bagel fans.

Combined, the two O'Bagel Bagelry & Deli shops in Basking Ridge nearly took the whole enchilada when it came to fans logging their opinion on where to find the best bagel in Basking Ridge.

But the , 655 Martinsville Road, captured even a greater number of votes, 97 (57 percent) of the 168 votes cast in this week's Readers' Choice contest for best bagels in town.

The other O'Bagel in Bernards Township, located at at the Dewy Meadow shopping plaza, received 53, or 31 percent of votes.

Both O'Bagels have the same owner, Sam El Hassan. There is another O'Bagel location on Valley Road in the Stirling section of Long Hill Township.

Third place, trailing at six votes, was , further down Martinsville Road, which also serves a wide variety of bagels.

But O'Bagel — at either location — took the prize. "O'Bagel in both Riverwalk and Dewy Meadow are by far the best bagels around," said reader Linda McGuirl. She said the shop is a "family-run business owned by a wonderful Basking Ridge family. I recommend them highly — great staff too! Today I had a whole wheat bagel with lox, tomato and onions — it was delicious!"

"O'Bagel in Dewy Meadow is friendly and they let my hubby know when the bagels would be newly made," said reader Sukie Crandall. "Try the whitefish salad on an onion or a garlic bagel with thinly sliced onion. Oh, gads, now I have to go get one! I made myself hungry just remembering how good they are."

Kathy Taulbee specifically selected the O'Bagel at Riverwalk, after she said she tried all the bagels around. "It's close by and the staff is very friendly," she added.
