Resident Appointed to Overlook Hospital Foundation's Trustees Board

Michael A. Tanenbaum, esq., will serve three-year term.

The Overlook Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees has appointed attorney Michael A. Tanenbaum of Basking Ridge to serve a three-year term on the foundation’s board for the hospital, located in Summit.

Betsy Compton, chairwoman of the hospital foundation's Board of Trustees, said Tanenbaum's  "legal expertise and involvement with our medical center will be a tremendous asset to our fundraising efforts on behalf of Overlook Hospital.”

Tanenbaum is chair of the Newark law firm Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP, where he practices in the areas of products liability, pharmaceutical liability, and environmental and toxic tort, according to the hospital.For more than 25 years, during which he has been litigating and managing complex commercial and product liability litigation, Tanenbaum has served as national products liability counsel for pharmaceutical, consumer products, building products and chemical companies, as well as for a global industrial contractor and power equipment manufacturer.

Tanenbaum also is a member of the board of directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. He was a member of the board of trustees of Atlantic Health and chair of the Overlook Hospital Advisory Board for nine years.  This year, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2011 edition of Best Lawyers in America in the field of mass tort litigation.

Tanenbaum is a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association and Florida State Bar and is a former chair of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel’s Drug, Device and Biotechnology Section.

He and his wife, Jill, are the parents of two children, Emily and Kathryn.

The Overlook Hospital Foundation raises funds that are used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and fund special programs to help Overlook remain on the forefront of medical care, according to the hospital.
