Take a Taste of a Cool Treat This Saturday

Sometimes there's just not enough days to go around, but each week we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself.

Summer and the warm weather may not have arrived yet, but you can have a preview of one of summer's treats this weekend. Just close your eyes and think of the beach, shorts and flip-flops!

The area's newest is going to celebrate the store's grand opening this Saturday, April 6 with an all-day free frozen yogurt giveaway for the community.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to Red Mango spokesperson Sharyn Frankel. The shop is at 665 Martinsville Road at the Riverwalk Village Center in Basking Ridge.

Area residents will be treated to a free small yogurt with their choice of toppings and guests will receive a free Red Mango spirit tumbler while supplies last, Frankel said.

The national frozen yogurt and smoothie chain, which actually opened the shop in Basking Ridge last fall, is celebrating the spring grand opening of the new location, according to Red Mango.

“We’re thrilled to expand Red Mango in the state with a store in Basking Ridge,” said store owners David and Jen Rothberg.  “Whether it’s a smoothie or frozen yogurt, residents will be able to experience our unique flavor combinations and know that they are getting fresh, healthy options that are fun and delicious.”  The Rothbergs also own Red Mango stores in Long Branch, Millburn and Summit.

The Basking Ridge location is among more than 200 Red Mango stores across the United States. The store is open Monday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; on Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 9 p.m.    

Red Mango offers customers of all ages delicious and healthy treat options of frozen yogurt, yogurt parfaits and fresh fruit smoothies and allows people to indulge without the guilt, according to Red Mango.

Red Mango is made from all-natural, nonfat and low fat yogurt, fortified with beneficial live and active probiotic cultures to support the immune and digestive systems, according to Red Mango. The yogurt is gluten-free with kosher yogurt and many kosher smoothies as well.

Toppings include fresh fruit and other sweet topping options.

A sampling of some of the frozen yogurt flavors that will be offered at the Basking Ridge location include sweet and creamy flavors like peanut butter, cake batter, vanilla bean and tart and tangy flavors like original, mango, raspberry, pomegranate and coconut.

Customers can garnish their yogurt with toppings such as fresh fruit, nuts and granola, and fun options like brownie bites, gummy bears and hot fudge, according to Red Mango.
