The Ridge Tavern Closing For Renovations

Downtown Basking Ridge eatery to shut on or around Aug. 15, manager says.

The Ridge Tavern, a restaurant serving American fare and brunch in a historic building at 55 S. Finley Ave. in downtown Basking Ridge, is due to close in the middle of August to undergo renovations, a manager confirmed on Monday.

The restaurant will shut its door on or around Aug. 15, said manager Marco Monge.

"There will be many renovations... and it will open at a later time," he said on Monday, answering a question about a report that The Ridge Tavern will close.

He said the restaurant is expected to reopen in about three months with a new concept of fine dining.

Monge said the new restaurant will continue under the same ownership.

The Ridge Tavern is in a buildiing that had previously been occupied by The Store for many decades. That eatery had been owned by Growth Restaurants, a group of restauranteurs whose principals included the late Jack Welch.

The Store was purchased by the ownership of the Tewksbury Inn in Hunterdon County during 2010. It temporarily retained its name until it was redecorated and the menu revised following the purchase.
