What Should Move Into This Classic Bernardsville Spot?

Vacant location available at 165 Morristown Road (Route 202).

The small collection of shops and businesses surrounding 165 Morristown Road (Route 202 South) in Bernardsville seem far away from the bustle of the mall, or a busy commercial strip center.

The building, with one vacancy, and the location are more along the lines of classic Bernardsville. And what do you think would fit in?

The vacant storefront at the building was formerly occupied by Diamond Dream Jewelers. It might hardly seem like the spot for a chain store. Or do you envision something there that's completely different than in the past?

The building is located near the southern entrance of Bernardsville, before the light at the intersection with North Finley Avenue, and the two shopping centers with supermarkets further north on Route 202. (Up in that area, a CVS has just been approved to move the town's most persistent vacant space, the former Shop Rite Annex, said Bernardsville Councilman Joe Rossi.)

Upstairs at 165 Morristown Road, Lotus Mind & Body Yoga and Pilates occupies the upper floor.

Downstairs, an office is opening for the

Monterey Gourmet is next door. And Turpin Realtors is a building away, all served by the same ample parking lot.

So what would you like to see at that location?

What do you think would best serve area residents? What do you think might attract the type of people who might be stopping by to pick up something from Monterey Gourmet, take a yoga class, or look into contributing or helping out with More than Me, which takes poor girls off the streets of Liberia and provides them with an education?

Or do you think the town could use a little something new to shake up the area, provide some buzz and an interesting place to go?
