EARNS 2014 LAND DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING AWARD

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP) and the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders have been presented with a 2013 Land Development and Planning Award from the Somerset County Planning Board for the successful completion of the Somerset County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).

The CEDS plan was honored for is vision and the unique and innovative subcommittee and governance structure that fully involved the private sector. Business interests documented specific actions that will lead to job creation and private sector investment  including 33 Priority Focus Areas, 33 Goals and Objectives, and 192 discreet projects identified at four business outreach sessions.

These results allow the Somerset County business community, working closely with Somerset County and local governments, to implement strategies that will keep Somerset County competitive in the global marketplace while positioning the County for priority access to federal and state investment in infrastructure improvements.

The Somerset County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy: Investment Somerset, A Collaborative Blueprint for Economic Growth, was approved by the United State Economic Development Administration (USEDA) on December 16, 2013, providing Somerset County with the benefit of having a federally recognized strategy to improve our local economy.
