Join Businesses to Advance Environmental Sustainability

BUSINESSES INVITED TO ENROLL IN THE “GREEN CHALLENGE”

An Initiative By & For the Business Community to Advance Environmental Sustainability

 

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset County Business Partnership Sustainable Somerset Committee is inviting Somerset County businesses to participate in the 2013 “Green Challenge.” The initiative will offer education and support to implement practices that will preserve and protect the environment, improve a company’s bottom line, and garner public recognition for accomplishments.

The “Green Challenge” is a call to action to advance sustainability among the Somerset County business community. There is no charge for participation and companies joining the will be provided materials and training that address methods for and benefits of incorporating sustainable practices into day-to-day operations. Participation in the “Green Challenge” will assist business decision makers in identifying opportunities to increase profitability through initiatives that improve energy efficiency, improve recycling efforts, conserve resources, and contribute to the wellbeing of the community at large.

Through the “Green Challenge,” the Sustainable Somerset Committee is looking to reward, promote, share, and demonstrate the creative ways Somerset County businesses are achieving a competitive advantage by implementing innovations and sustainable practices. Participating companies will be given a unique networking opportunity with green-oriented suppliers and customers and will receive guidance from sustainability experts with proven ability to reduce costs and enhance profits through a wide range of green solutions. The “Challenge” will bring visibility to a company’s efforts and provide a unique opportunity to share sustainable best practices with other like-minded businesses owners and operators.

 

The Business Partnership will bring together experts to provide assistance and guidance on sustainability issues that include Energy Conservation; Water Conservation; Reduce/Recycle/Reuse; Commuting Alternatives; Sustainable Action; and Community Involvement.

 

“The more businesses that we can persuade to participate in the ‘Green Challenge,’ the greater will be the positive impact that we have on the environment,” commented Sean Moreland, Chair of Sustainable Somerset’s Educational Taskforce. “We have made the program easy to participate and easy to implement. In the end we will create new business leaders in the sustainability arena while providing public visibility for a company’s accomplishments. ”
