BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Business Partnership has announced that the January, 2014 Fifth Friday Friars Public Policy Luncheon will continue the Partnership’s focus on economic development issues, presenting featured speaker Dr. Alexander Heil, Chief Economist of the Port Authority of NY/NJ. The luncheon is scheduled for 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, 811 Rattlesnake Bridge Road, Bedminster, New Jersey. The business social begins at 12:00 Noon with the luncheon and discussion beginning at 12:30 P.M.

The Fifth Friday Friars Luncheon series continues a decade’s long tradition that brings together hundreds of business and community leaders for an informative and relaxing luncheon. The public policy luncheon speakers are selected for their experience and ability to generate the discussion on issues of concern to business leaders and policy makers. The luncheon regularly brings together nearly 150 business and public policy leaders from across Center New Jersey.
Dr. Alexander Heil is Chief Economist, Planning and Regional Development Department at the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. As Chief Economist, Dr. Heil provides strategic leadership on regional economic issues. Dr. Heil’s experience includes analyzing regional economic conditions, conducting regional cost benefit analysis, assessing the regional economic impacts of transportation investments, and undertaking economic and financial project evaluations.
“In a time of limited public resources, we need to insure that infrastructure investments improve our competitive position for growing jobs and attracting private sector economic investments.” commented Mike Kerwin, President/CEO of the Business Partnership. “As we enter 2014 and begin the work defined by the CEDS, the information imparted by Dr. Heil will be an important factor in our planning and implementation effort.”
