2011: Some Memorable Moments on Video

Patch captured some moments in motion that were special, funny, strange or significant.

Ask me the most memorable video I've done this year, and it would be the "Happy Birthday" song sung last summer to 100-year-old Anna Bellina at the in Basking Ridge.

Mrs. Bellina, a Basking Ridge resident, had always wanted to be on television when she turned 100 years old, explained her daughter, Sandra Arace. But no television station wanted to cover the event —

Special occasions and holidays always make good video — — a local tradition for almost 90 years, was featured on Christmas Day.

One would hope that some Patch videos will make their way into some local history archives. Speaking withwho at the end of last year retired as township historian, documented just a small segment of her voluminous knowlege about her hometown.

Other milestones also were captured on video this year, including athletic performances by Ridge student athletes.

One of the most exciting moments on video was Ridge senior wrestler— which we got to see. Radinovic was the first Ridge wrestler to win 100 matches since 1988.

We got to see as well as hear from Alex Hershberger and Hana Ku, the impressively last spring.

Also last spring, J.B. Kole, senior captain and pitcher on the Ridge baseball team, was most valuable player when He also was profiled as one of our video Athletes of the Week.

Athletes aren't the only achievers at Ridge High School — courtesy of YouTube, we just this week featured which won a top spot in an international songwriting competition.

And speaking of — the debate over whether was a tempest in a teapot or a moment of seniors getting out of hand gained some focus with videos posted of the occasion.

There were also serious moments, such as the in a town that was disproportionately affected by the tragedy. Bernardsville resident Barbara Steele also added her insight as the parent of a grown son living in New York with whom she lost touch for several hours on that day.

And then, there were the gently amusing moments. One of my favorite videos was to the "You Said It" question of "Where Would You Go for Your Fantasy Vacation?"
