Alleged Heroin Dealers Busted in Bernards

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said that township police arrested two New Brunswick residents this week who allegedly were heading to Potomac Drive in Bernards to make a drug sale. The duo are accused of having heroin in the trunk of the vehicle.

Route 202 Just North of Olde Mill Inn Closed for Bridge Replacement

Following several months of keeping Route 202 open during preliminary work and pre-construction to prepare for the installation of a small precast bridge to replace a short span built in 1924, the road will be closed for about a week at the Bernards Township-Harding Township border. During that time the old bridge will be demolished and the new precast structure put in place. The bridge was scheduled to close this Saturday night and to reopen by next Saturday night, Aug. 25.

Verizon, Unions Extend Federal Mediation on Behalf of 45,000 Workers

Remember last August's strike by Verizon wireline workers and call center employees? Well, you're not alone. This year, with the expired contract still unsettled, a federal mediation process is underway, and has been extended until Aug. 24 with some apparent progress being reported in negotiations.

Hills Residents Ask for Cul-de-sac Maintenance

Even if a deal was struck before their section of The Hills was constructed with homes clustered around cul-de-sacs, some members of the Liberty Ridge Neighborhood Association argued before thethat they weren't part of the agreement in which those cul-de-sacs are considered private driveways. Township officials didn't seem convinced, and neither were some commenters on the story.

Ridge High School Student Hana Ku to Represent U.S. in USA-China Golf Match

Hana Ku, a student who has been part of the "dream foursome" of girl golfers that led the high school varsity team to state championships in recent years, will this Thursday and Friday represent the United States in the USA-China Youth Golf Match. The competition is conducted by the U.S. Golf Association, based in Bernards Township, and the China Golf Association to promote cultural friendship through the game of golf.
