Community Caroling, Call For Longer Deer Hunt Top Local News

Winter storms hit region and a look at the top photos of the year.

Basking Ridge held its annual Christmas Eve. caroling event on Monday, drawing crowds and well-wishers in snowflakes to continue a tradition that has spontaneously drawn out the community for decades.

It was a hard job to select the year's top photos, with many unforgettable scenes from Sandy, many noteworthy reader contributions and as always, some great moments from some great Ridge teams and sporting events.

As part of a revised application to extend the state's regular deer hunting season through March 31 on township lands, Bernards has been advised to ask the state to continue the regualr season for another month and a half. The reason: to reduce the local deer herd and cut back on deer-vehicle collisions.

Winter Storm Blankets Region

A real winter snowfall brought a few inches to Basking Ridge and nearby areas, and here are some photos. Earlier in the week, barely an inch or so of wet, slick snow and slush covering caused accidents and also some power outages.

Pub Crawl Draws a Thousand Santas to Morristown

The annual Morristown tradition continued this year as more than a thousand people dressed in Santa suits visited the local bars. Maybe best party all year for a certain age group!
