Proposed Mosque's Location, Funding Question

The Planning Board last Thursday heard the opening of the formal presentation of plans for . The plan conforms to local zoning for the four-acre lot in a residential zone, but there were questions from the audience, and some board members, about the expected membership at the planned house of worship and hours tht the mosque would be open. Residents also questioned the source funding for the new facility, although the planning board's chairman advised that is not relevant for the hearing before the board.

Verizon, Unions in Federal Mediation One Year After Strike

A Federal mediation process was extended for another week between the township-based Verizon communications and representatives for 45,000 union members from the Northeast, including thousands in New Jersey. The talks were underway as the first year anniversary passed of last year'sexpired on Aug. 6, 2011. The contract remained unsettled as of early this week.
