June Kennedy's History of Bernards Is Back In Print

Kennedy, a Basking Ridge resident, will sign copies of her reprinted and updated book, "Around and About in Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner and Lyons" on charter day.

The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills has just announced that it is reprinting Around and About in Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner and Lyons, an evocative photographic history of Bernards Township by local resident June O. Kennedy. Originally published in 1995, the book is part of the popular Images in America series and has been out of print for a number of years.

Marcella Miccolis, Chair of the Historical Society, stated in press release, " We are pleased to sponsor the reprint of Around and About in Basking Ridge, Liberty Corner and Lyons.  Through memorable photographs, factual captions and writer excerpts, the local history book brings bygone eras of Bernards Township back to life.  Proceeds from book sales, generously donated by author June Kennedy, a long-time Trustee of the Historical Society, will go toward maintaining the Brick Academy and Historical Society programs."

Conceived as a project to help celebrate Bernards Township's 250th anniversary this year, copies are available for prepaid reservation on the Historical Society's website at www.brickacademy.org. The book will be available for purchase for $20.00 at the Brick Academy beginning on Charter Day, May 15, 2010, and Kennedy will be present from 1 - 3 p.m. for book signings.
