Three Bernards Residents Were Victims of Alleged Identity Theft Ring

Yes, it can happen to someone you know. Bernards Township residents were among the more than 70 people who made reports to 30 police departments within the last year or so that they were the victims of identity theft, prompting a statewide investigation that led to the arrest of 11 people earlier this month, authorities said. The alleged credit card scheme hit home for the residents starting in December 2012, Bernards Township police said.

Ridge Girls Lacrosse Holds Off Hillsborough to Win County Tournament

Two days before the boys won their tournament, the Ridge girls lacrosse team neatly put away Hillsborough — which the team already had beaten in the season opener — with a 19-14 win in a game held at Bridgewater-Raritan on Tuesday night. Samantha Brown was named MVP.

Similar letters had been received in municipalities around the state, including Bernardsville. The state Council on Affordable Housing wants to collect unused and unallocated funding, provided by developers, to pay for affordable housing in municipalities. But Bernards officials say they have about $500,000 of that fund committed for group homes — and also spent $1 million from the fund to partially pay for 20 units of new housing at Ridge Oak Senior Housing.
