UPDATE: School Sports Postponed, Planning Board Still On, Local Horses Settle in For More Winter

As of 1 p.m., boys varsity home basketball game still on for Tuesday night.

Although many school sports were postponed, according to the online schedule, the home boys varsity basketball game against Gill St. Bernard's School scheduled for 7 p.m. was still on as of about 1 p.m.

The Bernards Township Planning Board, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., also was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, said Frances Florio, planning board secretary.

However, the girls varsity basketball game, scheduled to be held away at Gill St. Bernard's in Peapack and Gladstone, was postponed to Feb. 5 at 5 p.m., according to the schedule.  The boys JV basketball game against Gill at 5:15 p.m. has been postponed, with a makeup date to be announced, according to the schedule.

The fencing matches for girls and boys, scheduled for 4 p.m. at Hunterdon Central High School in Raritan Township, has been postponed until Feb. 3. 

The National Weather Service predicts rain throughout the afternoon. Icy road conditions complicated the morning commute and resulted in a two-hour delayed opening Tuesday for  .

Ridge High school and William Annin began the day at 10 a.m. Elementary schools were scheduled to begin school at 11 a.m. School buses will be running on a two-hour delay, according to a morning recorded message.

The snow began Monday night with 1 to 4 inches expected before mixing with and changing to sleet and freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service.

The precipitation will change to all rain during the late morning hours as temperatures rise above freezing.
