One Republican and One Democrat File for Bernards Township Committee

The local Republican and Democrats honed in on their candidates to support for this June's primary election ballot, leaving the contest until the November election. Republican Carol Bianchi and Democrat David Ferdinand filed before Monday's deadline to be listed on the June 4 primary ballot to represent their parties.

The Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, where former N.Y. Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum remains on the Board of Directors, announced on Wednesday that the deadline has been extended for YMCA members who wish to apply for this year's Tannenbaum family scholarship.

Cedar Hill School Recognizes World Autism Awareness Day

Cedar Hill Elementary School in Basking Ridge led the way with Principal Joseph Mollica's sensitive call for students to be understanding, and ultimately advocates for, their classmates with autism. He said all Bernards Township schools in one way or another recognized that Tuesday was World Autism Awareness Day.

Somerville High School boys lacrosse team is considered a tough bunch to beat, but Ridge High School's boys LAX team was pleased to walk off the field after Monday's season opener, played at Ridge, with a 10-2 victory.

The Hillsborough Raiders girls lacrosse team did their best to make a late comeback, but the Ridge girls LAX team preserved their lead and even scored again near the end of their season opening game on Tuesday, played at Ridge. Ridge won 17-14 in a game with a lot of scoring!

Mount Airy Road Reopens After Almost Three Months

There, even with detours for cars and even longer detours for trucks while water main pipes were replaced on Mount Airy Road between Basking Ridge and Bernardsville, the construction didn't seem so bad. But wait, this was just a warm-up for a longer and more complete road closure when Somerset County resurfaces the road, replaces stone walls and renovates sidewalks.

'Glam' Event Thursday Night Benefits Ridge Lymphoma Patient

A lovely event, "Get Your Glam on for the Prom," was a fun girls' night out as well as a fundraiser for the Lymphoma Research Foundation in support of a Ridge junior.
