Patch Launching New Bernardsville, Bedminster Site

The combined hyper-local site will go live before month's end.

On Dec. 9, 2009, Basking Ridge Patch launched as a hyper-local, online news site hoping to serve all the informational needs of Basking Ridge Township (and sometimes Bernardsville, Bernards and more).

(Remember this intro?)

And then on July 30, 2010, Bridgewater Patch launched as another hyper-local online news site to serve the residents of Bridgewater and the surrounding county.

(How about this intro?)

We like to think in the two to three years since, we’ve lived up to what we set out to do.

We’re not alone, of course. Patch Media has more than 860 sites across 21 states and continues to grow, as the need for providing online, community news expands.

This is also true locally, as we’ve decided to launch Bernardsville-Bedminster Patch right next door.

It’s a natural marriage, of course, bringing Bernardsville-Bedminster Patch into the fold. Basking Ridge Patch and Bridgewater Patch were covering all they could locally and in bits in Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone, but it's time to expand our horizons a little and provide specifically for the residents of these towns.

We’re sure it will be a strong complement to the existing sites in this area.

But who’s going to run the site, you’re asking (OK, maybe you’re not, but we’ll tell you anyway)?

Patch was able to secure not one, but two experienced, one-of-a-kind editors to commandeer the new site. Chances are you know them both well.

Your trusty friends , and , will be in charge of the Bernardsville-Bedminster site. Don’t worry, though, they’ll still be at the head of their original sites too.

We’ll also have some extended help along the way, especially in the early going. You’ll probably see name pop up here and there, too.

Our regional editors in the Morris and Somerset County region will be jumping in from time to time, too, to help Bernardsville-Bedminster Patch kick off properly.

And when can you expect the site to be ready? Sooner than you think, as we aim for Thursday, Sept. 27.

For now, though, you can ‘like’ the Bernardsville-Bedminster Patch Facebook page by going here, and keep an eye on Basking Ridge Patch and Bridgewater Patch for the official launch announcements.

We’re excited to expand Patch’s mission to other towns, and we hope you’ll join us for the ride.

That would be fine, but Patch continues to rethread stories and run stories from other towns w/o any connection to Bernards Township.
