Register Now for WAMS Turkey Trot 5K and Health Walk on Nov. 24

Improve your own health and donate to Somerset County's food bank.

Want to get a jump start on burning off those Thanksgiving calories? Join in the William Annin Middle School's annual Turkey Trot 5K and Health Walk, coming up on Nov. 24 at Mountain Park, at Martinsville and Mountain Roads in Basking Ridge.    

The public is invited to walk or run for the William Annin Middle School as part of a health cause which encourages donations of non-perishable food item to be donated to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

The Turkey Trot invites runners to chase down the turkey runner as part of the day's fun. Awards will be given to top overall male and female runners, and the top three runners in each age group in 10-year age increments from 10 and under to 70 and over.

Since the event is being organized by the middle school, awards will be given to the top three male and female winners in the 11, 12, 13, and 14-year-old age group. No duplicate awards.

The 5K course is a USATF-certified, professional race timing on a flat looped trail through the park, with digital clocks, split times and printed race results provided and posted by Compuscore, Computer Services. The course is at www.compuscore.com.

The event is sponsored by Coldwell-Banker, Residential Brokerage, in Basking Ridge, and Pediatric Dentistry of Millburn and Bedminster.

Pre-registration on race day and check-in is at 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.

The one-mile health walk starts at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K run starts at 10 a.m.

Registration is $20 preregistered or $25 on race day. Pre-registered participants may pick up race packets from Sneaker Factory, 25 Mountain View Boulevard, Basking Ridge from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, or on race day at the race site.

T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered runners and health walkers.
