Year in Review in Photos in Basking Ridge

There were athletic victories, fun events through the year, and a few odd occurences — such as those escaping bees.

There were expected and unexpected events in Basking Ridge during 2013 that may or may not have gone as planned. You knew that last year's young men and women at the Ridge senior prom would look stylish, and Charter Day would attract a crowd of residents who wait for the day to arrive each May.

The first-ever rubber duck race went off at the Farmstead Arts, although the water in the river was higher than expected. The Ridge Red Devils football team expected to do well — but the team saw their hard work pay off with an undefeated season that led to a state championship title — as good as it gets.

There were other victories during the year, too, such as the Ridge baseball team's Skyland Conference win at TD Park. (See a separate story on top sports photos of 2013.)

But who expected that swarm of bees to escape from a truck carrying hives along the east coast?

Despite having many fans,  the Bamboo Grille left town, following the death of Jack Welch, to be replaced by Delicious Heights Outpost.
