Today’s Lunch Discussion: Top 10 New Design Products

Kinsglsey Belcher Knauss, of award-winning KBK Interior Design, among New Jersey’s top interior designers to meet today to determine the best new design products for 2012.

I’m looking forward to a lively discussion at lunch this afternoon at the Bernards Inn with NJ’s top designers as we thrash out our choices for the top 10 new design products. This meeting of the 2012 Design Advisory Council, which is comprised of award-winning interior designers as named by New Jersey American Society of Interior Designers (NJASID), is sponsored by New Jersey Monthly magazine.  Look for the final top 10 list in May 2012 issue!

In the meantime, here is a peek at a few of the products that have my vote….

Blue agate stone design influence– I was first inspired by this bold natural material as seen in a Pietra Santa sconce represented by Profiles. I currently have plans to use this material in a custom coffee table for a beach house in Bay Head. Using this bold look in small doses goes along way!

More durable, affordable custom carpets in interesting new designs—While touring carpet showrooms this week I was pleased by the array of new offerings… Among my favorite new designs is the Oushak Weave collection from Van Den Loom.  These eye-catching hand knotted oriental rugs have an updated transitional design with patterns reminiscent of watercolors.

New fibers such as banana leaf and linen create a silky sumptuous feeling but with more durability and at a fraction of the cost of silk.

Preppy inspired fabric collection by Lee Jofa – I love the bold colors and can see these resort-wear prints used in a beach house or as a punch of color to wake up a room of neutrals—such as  the gray and taupe palettes we’ve seen this past year.

To see the complete list of top 10 new design products you’ll have to wait until the May New Jersey Monthly magazine hits the stands!
