About 25 Percent of Bernards Reportedly Has Power Back Friday AM

Township website gives noon update, Exxon on Martinsville Road selling gas on Friday.

A noon update on the Bernards Township website  said that as of 25 percent of the township is back with power after JCP&L crews worked through the night and are continuing to work.

"We currently are working with them on getting estimates on various neighborhoods," the website said.

The warming center is available at the 9000 Fellowship Road. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Facilities are avaible to sit and read or have a cup of coffee but they do not have the ability to charge devices.

The Somerset Hills YMCA has opened at RiverWalk at 5:15 a.m. on Friday Nov. 2. Full facility is open to all, members and non-members alike. Non-members need photo ID.

Officials asked that residents should spread the word that under no circumstances should an oven be used for heat in your home.

If you have been called by JCP&L and told your service has been restored, and it has not, please reply to this email or notify your name, address, and account number (if possible). ALSO NOTIFY JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).

The Bernards Township Police Department is open as a Charging Station. Residents can bring their devices to Police Headquarters at 1 Collyer Lane on weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and this weekend between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. First come first served.

The NJ Office of Emergency Management has a current and up to date list of
pharmacies, hotels, restaurants and gas stations that can be found online.

An extended grace period on property taxes will be approved by the township
committee at a special emergency meeting. The extension will be to 11/16/12.

Please continue adding information to our story on what's open in Basking Ridge and the Somerset Hills area.

How is it the numbers never actually change for Bernards? On JCP & L's website, it went from 10038, to 10668, now its 10191.. confused on how it's been always around 10 for the last 48 hours. That shows very little improvement, while I get there is alot of work to do, there is a nor'easter on its way.

Town says 25% restored, but do the math: JCP&L says 300 of 10000. That's 3% (as of Friday).
