Burglary Reported at Basking Ridge Home

Police say jewelry was taken from home off Valley Road.

A break-in and theft of jewelry was called into Bernards Township police last Thursday evening after an Elizabeth Street resident apparently came home and found a back window forced open, according to police.

The theft took place some time beween 7:20 and 9 p.m. on June 20, according to Bernards Township police reports.

The person or persons who took the jewelry apparently left the home through the front door, after taken jewelry of unspecified value, according to the police report.

Nothing else was apparently taken, police said.

Police Lt. Michael Voorhees said the theft remains under investigation, and there were no suspects as of Monday morning. Police are not now linking this break-in with previous burglaries reported throughout Bernards Township and nearby several months ago.
