Cocaine Charge for Bonnie Brae Student

The following information was obtained directly from the Bernards Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A student at the Bonnie Brae Educational Center who reportedly had run away from the residential school the week before, was returned to the facility last Friday, when, according to township police, he allegedly brought a vial of cocaine with him.

The 15-year-old student, who is from Allentown, Pa., now faces a charge of possession of cocaine, said Bernards Township police.

Township police said the student was returned by the East Orange police department to the Bonnie Brae, a residential school and treatment center on Valley Road in Basking Ridge.

Upon the student's return to the school, Bonnie Brae staff checked to see if he had brought back any contraband to the school, according to township police. The school's staff allegedly determined that the male teenager had returned to Bonnie Brae in possession of a vial of cocaine, the police report said.

Bonnie Brae staff then contacted Bernards Township police, and officers responded to the school and placed the student under arrest, police said.
