State police responded to the report of a crash on I-78 eastbound in Bernards Township early Monday morning, and ended up charging the driver with an offense of driving under the influence, according to state police records.
The driver was a male but was not identified, according to the preliminary report. The crash took place at milepost 33.1, the report said.
The report said that blood was drawn, and the driver charged with a DUI. There was no mention of the extent of injuries, although state police said no one was killed in the crash.
The Liberty Corner Fire Co. and First Aid Squad also responded to the accident scene, said Liberty Corner Fire Chief Marc Friedman.
Friedman said the accident involved a car and truck and the truck was parked on the shoulder when the firefighters and first aid squad arrived. He said the driver was out of the car at that time.
