Fighting Fires for Free, the Men and Women of the Basking Ridge Fire Company No. One

Bernards Township held an induction ceremony for the officers of the BRFCO on Friday night. A video slide show accompanies this article.

Sacrificing time, effort and often their personal safety, the men and women of the Bernards Township fire companies give invaluable service to their community on a 100 percent voluntary basis.

The mayor and three other members of the Township Committee, as well as many residents and firefighters from surrounding towns were on hand at the Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 Officer Induction Ceremony on Friday night at the Ridge High School auditorium.

Township Committee member John Carpenter and Mayor Scott Spitzer each gave speeches thanking the members of the fire and first aid squads for selflessly giving of their service to the township.

First Aid squad captain Louise Fordham Hale and Fire Chief Jack McGrath also spoke about their experiences serving on the squad and thanking their friends, family and fellow community members for their support.
