Firefighters Graduate Ready to Serve

Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy graduates 126 firefighters.

The Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy graduated 126 firemen and women in a ceremony Friday night at Hillsborough High School. In addition to the firefighters, 30 EMTs also graduated in a separate ceremony.

The academy, which is located on Roycefield Road in Hillsborough, provides education and certifications to volunteer personnel from municipal, county, state, and industrial/commercial agencies located within and outside Somerset County in a wide variety of fire, EMS, hazardous materials and other courses.

The firefighting courses range from entry level "Firefighter I" for the new firefighter, to advanced courses on hazardous materials, confined spaces and leadership courses for officers and company chiefs.
