Hearing Delayed for Man Accused of Standoff With Police

Bernardsville resident, who was found guilty last month of selling an assault rifle to cops, faces obstruction of justice charge for June incident.

The municipal court hearing for Samuel J. Medway, the Bernardsville resident who was involved in a more than , has been moved to Sept. 10.

Medway, 44, was scheduled Monday to face an obstruction of justice charge, a disorderly person’s offense, related to a June 7 standoff at his Anderson Hill Road home.

A Bernardsville court employee said the delay because Medway and his public defender need to have further discussions about his defense.

Medway is being held at the Somerset County Jail in Somerville after he was found guilty in July of to an undercover detective in 2011.

He is scheduled to be sentenced for that conviction on Sept. 21 in Somerset County Superior Court.
