Jewelry Theft Reported in Basking Ridge
Investigation being conducted into loss of gold ring and theft.
say they still are investigating a reported theft of jewelry in a home on Fairview Drive East that the homeowner said occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
According to police, the residence appeared to have been entered by smashing the rear sliding glass door. The master bedroom was ransacked by the apparent thief, police said.
The police report said that various items of jewelry, including a gold ring and gold necklace, were reported missing from the master bedroom. Estimated value of the stolen jewelry is approximately $5,000, police said.

Police observed that the alleged theft ignored electronic equipment, and appears only to have been interested in jewelry.
