Liberty Corner Fire Company Celebrates 100 Years

The company will hold an official event in September, as well as publish a commemorative book this year.

This year, the Liberty Corner Fire Company's will celebrate 100 years of all-volunteer fire and rescue service to Bernards Township on Saturday September 25.

To help commemorate the occasion, a big parade and Family Fun Fair is planned.  The Fair will be an old-fashioned family celebration including food, fun, amusement rides, prizes, live entertainment and a DJ - open to the public at our 9-acre Firemen's Field site right after the Parade and open till 8 pm.

The event will kick off with a parade at 11 a.m. that begins at the flagpole in the center of Liberty Corner, continues west on Church Street and ends at the Liberty Corner Fire House.  The parade will be a wonderful display of the latest fire engines, ladder trucks and rescue apparatus with fire fighters and other emergency workers marching, representing over 20 nearby and mutual aid companies. Civic groups of all ages, color guards and  marching bands will round out the parade lineup.

After the parade, our community will enjoy fresh picnic fare provided by Ronnie's All American Bar-B-Que Co. of Morris Plains.  Amusement rides will be provided by Seashore Amusements, the same rides vendor who makes the Bernards Township Charter Day a big success with the kids each year. Live music will be provided by The Troublemakers, a N.J. favorite offering a huge selection of rock, 60's, blues, Motown, oldies, Beatles and kids fun songs.

The first fire truck put in service by the Liberty Corner Fire Company was a horse-drawn ladder wagon. This important piece of apparatus – shown in the accompanying photo – has significant historical meaning to the Liberty Corner Fire Company, since it was donated to us by the Bernardsville Fire Company.

In honor of this special milestone in its history, the Fire Company is publishing a historical 100th Anniversary Commemorative Book featuring local history, pictures and family booster sponsorships and commercial advertisements.  To help support this event, the fire company is asking families to consider a Booster ad and businesses to sponsor a full-page advertisement to be included in the Commemorative Book, thereby becoming a key part of the celebration and local Bernards Township history.  The 100th Anniversary Commemorative Book will be distributed at the Family Fun Fair, and business ads will also be published for one year on the Liberty Corner Fire Company website www.libertycornerfire.org as part of the Fire Company's commitment to the community.
