Minivan Reported Stolen From King George Road Residence

Police said vehicle was unlocked, and keys left in ignition.

Township police said they received a report of a stolen minivan on Sunday, May 29, that apparently had been left unlocked in the driveway of a residence on King George Road.

Police said they received a call from a 42-year-old resident reporting that his 2004 Honda minivan had been discovered missing from his driveway at 5 a.m. on Sunday. The resident said the minivan had last been seen in the driveway at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 28, police said.

The victim reported that the minivan was unlocked and that the keys were left in the ignition, police said. Also reported stolen were items that were in the minivan which included various credit cards, a Vera Bradley purse and a Sprint cell phone, with no value estimates, police reported.

The vehicle was entered as stolen into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and was located and recovered later in the day by the Franklin Township police department (Somerset County), according to township police.

The vehicle was not occupied when it was recovered, police said. The cell phone was found in the vehicle, but township police said the do not have information about other missing items. Bernards Township  Detective Bureau personnel traveled to Franklin Township to process the vehicle for forensic evidence, police said.
