Oak Street School Completes 'Battle of Books'

Students show their love and knowledge of books in annual competition at township elementary school.

Students at the have completed the school's annual "Battle of the Books" competition, an elementary-level reading program that each year encourages fourth and fifth graders at the school to read books and then compete to show what they've learned.

The "Battle of the Books" is designed to encourage the students to expand their reading choices and to foster a lifelong love of reading.

The competition is held among teams of five students, who between them have read all the titles on a pre-selected master list. During the battle, the students are asked knowledge-based questions about the books and earn points for their team for the correct answer. This year's competition was held in April.
