Township police said they still are investigating the circumstances of a one-vehicle crash on Lyons Road late Thursday afternoon that sent a 55-year-old Bridgewater man to the hospital with what was described as "moderate" injuries.

The police report filed as of mid-day on Friday said that John Leming, of Bridgewater, apparently had driven his 1996 Chrysler into a tree on the side of Lyons Road, just east of the Quincy Road intersection. The accident occurred at 4:10 p.m., police said, and held up traffic for a few hours.

Liberty Corner Fire Co. and First Aid Squad responded to the accident scene and reportedly extracted Leming from his vehicle. The man had suffered a probable broken femur, police said. A State Police Northstar helicopter was called to the scene, and transported Leming to Morristown Memorial Hospital, according to the police report.
