Police Report: Stolen Bernards Van Turns Up In Jersey City, Investigation Continues

One individual has been taken into custody, but more suspects are expected to be identified in the near future.

According to a Bernards Township Police report, at approximately 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 12 the Jersey City Police department notified the Bernards Township Police that they had recovered a motor vehicle that had been stolen from a residence on Dykman Pl. in Basking Ridge.

The vehicle, a 1997 Chevy minivan had been reported stolen on May, 23 2010. At the time that the vehicle was taken, it was reported that the van contained several construction tools.

The Jersey City Police Department took an individual into custody who was operating the minivan. Det. Mike Sweeney responded to the Jersey City Police Department on June 12, 2010 to forensically process the vehicle and to take a statement from the individual in custody.
