Police: Stolen Cop Car Chased to Milepost 30 on I-287

State police said no injuries following pursuit from Clinton Township on interstates 78 and 287.

An unidentified thief allegedly stole a Clinton Township police car and led authorities in a chase along interstates 78 and 287 before being pulled over on I-287 near mile-marker 30 in Bernards Township Wednesday night, according to preliminary reports from the State Police.

State police at Somerville said no one was injured when the car was recovered and the alleged thief was apprehended on the highway in Bernards at about 6 p.m.

State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones said preliminary reports indicate that police from Clinton Township, in Hunterdon County, pursued the car along I- 78 before it exited onto I-287, heading northbound. State Police joined Clinton Township Police in the pursuit.
