Police Report: Three Motor Vehicle Crimes Last Week

A car burglary, attempted burglary and stolen vehicle were all reported in the last week.

Three motor vehicle crimes were reported in the last week by the Bernards Township Police Department.

All of the crimes occured between last Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26, and the police are currently investigating to see if any or all of the crimes are related. No suspects have been arrested as of Tuesday, June 29.

Motor Vehicle Burglary

Between 6 p.m. June 25 and 12:30 a.m. June 26, a vehicle was burglarized at the Old Mill Inn on 225 Morristown Rd. The vehicle was a 2004 Infinity and was parked in the restaurant parking lot. Entry into the vehicle was made by punching out the driver's side door lock. Taken from the vehicle was an iPhone charging cord, valued at $50.

Attempted Motor Vehicle Burglary

Between 10 p.m. June 25 and 1 p.m. June 26, an attempted motor vehicle burglary occurred at the Courtyard by Marriott on 595 Martinsville Rd. The vehicle, a 2007 Infinity had been parked in the southwest parking lot. The driver's side door lock was damaged and it is believed that a screw driver or similar tool was used to attempt entry. The actor(s) were not successful and nothing of value was taken.

Stolen Motor Vehicle

Between 9 p.m. June 25 and 9 a.m. June 26, a 2006 Acura was stolen from a residence on Goltra Dr. The vehicle is valued at $26,000. It is believed that the actor(s) used a spare key that was in the vehicle to commit the theft. The owner states that the vehicle contained between $50-$100 cash and an EZ pass.

An investigation is being conducted to determine if these thefts, as well as other recent and similar thefts are related.
