Police Report: Two Burglaries In Last Week

Items were taken A home on William Street and a car at Lyons train station.

Two burglaries were reported over the last week to Bernards Township police, one a home burglary and the other a burglarized car. No suspects were apprehended in either case.

Between 3:30 p.m. on June 19 and 12:02 a.m. on June 20 police responded to a William Street residence to investigate a burglary.

The burglar(s) entered the residence by standing a six-foot long bench on end and climbing up the bench to the second floor of the house. The window screen to the master bedroom (located on the second floor) was cut and the burglar(s) entered through the master bedroom window. The intruder(s) rummaged through the master bedroom. Several pieces of jewelry were taken.

Due to the presence of a pet dog on the first floor of the residence, it is believed that the burglar(s) did not search the rest of the house because of the presence of the dog. A complete list of the jewelry and approximate value were not available as of June 22.

The other burglary occurred on June 14. A Briar Lane resident reported that items were stolen from his vehicle while parked at the Lyons Train station.

The vehicle is a 2006 four-door Volkswagen. The theft was committed between 6:40am and 6:50pm, according to a Bernards Police report.

The resident believes he may have forgotten to lock the car after he parked. There was no damage to the vehicle indicating that the vehicle was broken into. A total value for the missing items was not available as of June 22.

The following items were reported missing from the vehicle: Global Position System, EZ Pass, Valet key, Vehicle owners manual and insurance card.
