Woman Accused of Stealing $1K in Weight-Loss Products

Basking Ridge resident charged with shoplifting and obstruction following incident last week at Rite-Aid.

A 49-year-old Basking Ridge woman allegedly stole about $1,000 of weight-loss products from a township pharmacy last week, Bernards Police said.

Tracey Testa was charged with shoplifting and obstruction of justice at about 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 2.

According to police, an employee at the Rite-Aid in the Lyons Mall contacted police to report the shoplifting incident and a description of the alleged thief.

Officer Alex McKnight arrived at the mall, and approached Testa in her vehicle, police said. She refused to open the door for the officer, police said.

Police eventually found about $1,000 of the stolen weight-loss products inside the vehicle, according to the report.

The charges are pending in municipal court, Lt. Michael Voorhees said.

Police are also looking for three people involved in a shoplifting incident at the A&P on Sunday when more than $1,500 worth of baby formula was stolen.
