Two Events, Pro Wrestling and Wine Tasting, Benefit Local PBAs and Other Civic Groups

A wine-tasting at Dolce on Friday and wresting in Stirling on Saturday span a variety of tastes (or try both.)

Bernards Twp. PBA hosts Friday night wine tasting at Dolce:

The Bernards Township Police Benevolent Association (PBA) 357 is hosting a wine tasting on Friday night, March 18, at the ballroom in   300 N. Maple Ave., in Basking Ridge.

The event, a fundraiser for the Bernards Twp. PBA 357 Civic Association, is scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m.

The $60 price includes an appetizer buffet and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets will be available at the door. The event is open to anyone age 21 and older.

"It is a very nice evening for the PBA and those that support us," said Police Detective Robert Herndon, president of the Bernards Township PBA. "We have many area businesses in town that help and support us through this event. Their help and support allows us to host, in my opinion, the best wine tastings in the area."

Night of National Wrestling Superstars benefits multiple organizations:

Another "blowout night" of National Wrestling Superstars pro-wrestling action is scheduled this Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. in Stirling as a benefit fundraiser for the Knights Of Columbus Of Basking Ridge and Bernardsville, the Long Hill P.B.A., and the Bernards Township Regional Chamber Of Commerce, said Al LiCata, executive director of the chamber and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

The event is scheduled to be held at the Long Hill Township Community Center at 264 Warren Ave., off Valley Road, in the Stirling section of Long Hill.

"After two highly successful shows, how do you top it?" LiCata asked. "The only way NWS knows how — make it a "Steel Cage Mania" night, with the main event taking place within a fifteen-foot-high steel cage. And don't put just any opponents in the cage — but a former  ECW TV hardcore icon, the "Wildman" Sabu, who will battle a veteran of the ring wars (and at least a few steel cage matches himself), NWS Heavyweight Champion "The Cold-Hearted Playa" Danny Demanto."

Licata added that NWS Heavyweight Champion Steve "Rampage" Rogers will also be on hand in Stirling, along with NWS Junior Heavyweight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans, NWS Tag-Team Championship co-holder & Jersey Shore Jocks member Mike Dennis, "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie, ladies' wrestling stars Niya and Marti Belle, and many more.

Scheduled guest ring announcers are Al LiCata and Long Hill Township PBAofficer Gary Bauer.

Tickets are $20 and all seats are ringside, LiCata said. Tickets are available at the following local outlets, including Investor Savings Bank in Stirling, Bernardsville Hardware in Bernardsville and Millington Savings Bank Branches in Bernardsville, Millington, Martinsville and at 675 Martinsville Road and 415 King George Road in Basking Ridge.

Tickets also are  available locally by calling (908) 766-6163, or by calling the NWS box office at (732) 888-1704. All major charge cards are accepted, and group rates are available for groups of ten or more.

"We look forward to bringing this family friendly entertainment to our area and by doing so, benefitting a host of local charitable efforts," LiCata said.

Bauer said the Long Hill PBA is pleased to team up with the Knights of Columbus and the chamber. "We know it will be a great evening," he said."
