$14K in Items Stolen From Home in Recent String of Burglaries

Residential burglaries follow series of reported vehicle break-ins.

Bernards Township Police reported two more burglaries in the township during the past week, including the first, in The Hills, where thieves stole a Louis Vuitton shoulder bag and wallet, electronics, jewelry and other items adding up to more than $14,000 in value.

Forced entry was gained into a home on Sentinel Drive in The Hills section of Bernards Township some time between 2:30 to 4 p.m. last Thursday, Police Lt. Mike Voorhees said.

Nobody was home at the time and there are no suspects in the burglary of the home, which was locked, Voorhees said on Wednesday.

He said the inventory of items that were reported as stolen to police included a MacBook Pro laptop, two iPads, a Louis Vuitton bag and monogrammed wallet, gold necklaces, a Gucci shoulder bag, Concord watch, and other miscellaneous belongings, including Burberry clothing.

Voorhees said police also are investigating another reported burglary on Brookside Avenue in northern Basking Ridge, during which cash reportedly was taken at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday.

The police report states that $130 as well as a can of change and numerous dollar bills were reported missing, he said.

Voorhees said it is unclear whether the home was locked. He said police again are reminding residents to lock homes, as well as vehicles.

There have been a series of burglaries from vehicles, some unlocked, during the summer months, according to previous police reports.
