Vehicles Burglarized, Vandalized in Bernards Township

IPhones, tablet, other valuables stolen from vehicles, some unlocked.

Electronics devices and other valuables were swiped from vehicles around the township, some reportedly unlocked, within the past week, Bernards Township police said.

The most recent theft reported was cash taken from an unlocked vehicle on Smithfield Court in the Spring Ridge development sometime early Tuesday morning, said Township Police Sgt. Scott Ward.

An iPhone reportedly was taken from another unlocked vehicle off Meeker Road overnight last Friday, Ward said.

Two other vehicles burglarized reportedly had been locked, but there were no signs of forced entry into either, he said.

In the first, a Kindle, a tablet and an iPhone were taken from a vehicle on Alexandria Way in Spring Ridge sometime overnight between July 17 to 18, Ward said.

A GPS and a car stereo also were reported to have been stolen from Penns Way in Society Hill, Ward said.

Meanwhile, Ward added police were told that the back window of a Toyota parked on Patriot Hill Road in The Hills section was smashed sometime between last Friday night and Saturday morning.

The back window of a Honda wagon parked in The Hills had been smashed sometime overnight on July 3 to 4, township police had previously reported.

Residents urged to remove valuables and lock cars

Ward said that car burglaries usually are not so common as during the past week.

However, as police have in the past, Ward urged residents to lock their vehicles, and to remove valuables. He said valuables should not be left in sight even in a locked car.
